High frequency electromagnetic field simulation of a Ku-band Dielectric Rod Waveguides (DWG) with tapers transitions to WR-62 mettalic waveguides for measurements.
3D printing of thin sheet samples for material characterization of in house developed ceramic thermoplastic composite FDM ready feedstock filament.
At mm-wave(mmW) and higher frequencies, traditional planar mettalic transmission lines have high ohmic losses. Due to high data rate and power efficiency requirements of chip-to-chip interconnects, these ohmic losses makes traditional tranmissionlines unfavourable. Thus, wireless and opicat communication schemes were suggested as an alternative approch for high data rate interconnects. Though, Optical communication requires lasers and precise alighments needs which are costly and provide integration challenges with matured CMOS IC technology and wireless schemes suffers from high free space path loss and interference issuses. Dieletric waveguides provides a unique solution to above problem as they are proven to have lower losses at mmW frequencies and are cost effective.
